Custom Exterior Doors

Monarch has been hand-forging custom exterior doors for over 20 years. Every door is built to order and sized to your exact opening, single or double.

Choose 12-gauge wrought iron, solid hardwood entry doors, church doors for sanctuary entrances, wrought iron garage doors, or security and bulletproof doors with ballistic-rated glass.

Insulated glass, thermal breaks and custom finishes throughout. Made to order and shipped across the US and Canada.

12-gauge wrought iron is the standard here, thicker than the 14 and 16-gauge most iron doors are built from. That extra steel is what resists forced entry and keeps a heavy door from sagging on its hinges over the years.

Every door is hand-forged, not cast or stamped. Scrollwork, transoms and sidelights are shaped individually, so no two are quite the same.

Arched or square tops, single or double, with pivot systems for wide openings. Insulated glass throughout, and thermal break construction where climate demands it.

Church doors are a different job from residential work. They are usually oversized, get far heavier traffic, and often have to match architecture that is a century old or more.

Monarch has been building them for over 20 years, in wrought iron or solid wood, sized to fit existing stone or masonry openings without altering the structure.

Gothic arches, tracery, laser-cut metal panels and hand-carved crosses. Designs can be matched to your existing stained glass or millwork. We work with churches across the US and Canada.

Every door is built to outlast the people who commissioned it.

Entry doors take more abuse than any other door on a house. Sun, rain, freeze-thaw cycles, and a few thousand openings a year.

Monarch builds them in solid hardwood, wrought iron, or wood with iron scrollwork set into the glass. Mahogany, walnut, and oak, finished to match your existing trim.

Single or double, arched or square, with sidelights, transoms and beveled glass available. Everything is cut to your exact opening, so a replacement fits the frame you already have.

A garage door is usually the largest thing on the front of a house, which makes it the biggest single change you can make to how the place looks.

Monarch builds them in hand-forged wrought iron, sized to your existing opening and balanced to work with standard openers. Ornate scrollwork, Spanish and Old English styles, Art Nouveau curves, or clean flat-panel modern.

Iron resists forced entry and will not warp, crack or rot the way a wood or composite door does. Custom finishes throughout.

Ballistic protection is measured on the UL 752 scale, which runs from Level 1 (handgun rounds) up to Level 8 (rifle fire). Where a door lands on that scale depends on the steel thickness and the glass laminate spec.

Monarch builds security and bulletproof doors with reinforced steel cores, ballistic-rated laminated glass and multi-point locking. The ironwork is hand-forged, so the door reads as a normal entry door rather than a security fixture.

Built for private residences, estates and institutional entrances. We spec each door to the threat level you need.

FAQ

Exterior doors carry weather, security and insulation loads that interior doors never see. That means thicker material, sealed insulated glass, weatherstripping, and a finish built to survive UV exposure and freeze-thaw cycles. Interior doors are lighter and built for privacy and appearance, not for performance at the building envelope.

Yes, with a thermal break. Iron conducts temperature, so an untreated iron door in a cold climate invites drafts and condensation around the frame. Monarch’s thermal barrier system is rated at U 0.27 and R 3.70, against roughly U 0.41 and R 2.44 for a common iron door. Our thermal barrier page has a state-by-state guide on where it’s needed.

Yes. Church doors are sized to fit existing stone or masonry openings without altering the structure, which matters on buildings a century old or more. Gothic arches, tracery, laser-cut metal panels and hand-carved crosses can all be matched to your existing millwork or glazing. Send photos or drawings and we build from them.

They overlap, so it helps to know the split. Our entry doors category covers front doors built primarily in solid hardwood, including wood doors with iron scrollwork set into the glass. The wrought iron category covers doors forged entirely from 12-gauge steel. Want the warmth of wood at the entrance? Start with entry doors. Want a full iron entrance? Start there.

Iron will not warp, crack or rot, and it resists forced entry in a way panel doors do not. It is also the largest surface on most house fronts, so changing it shifts the look of the property more than any other exterior upgrade. Monarch builds to your existing opening and balances each door to run on standard openers.

The core and the glass. Security doors use reinforced steel cores, ballistic-rated laminated glass and multi-point locking, specified to a UL 752 level based on the threat you are protecting against. The ironwork is still hand-forged, so the door reads as a normal entrance rather than a security fixture.
